THE SIZE OF THE DANISH VENTURE CAPITAL MARKET

The Danish venture capital market has experienced a radical development and maturing in the last 7-8 years.

The funds have increased in size and there has been a positive development in investment activity. The size of an average venture investment has increased significantly and the investors have taken an interest in completely new fields of investments.

In 2008 there are 45 investors on the Danish venture capital market. The total number of investors includes venture funds, corporate venture companies, public as well as private incubators.

Venture investors on the Danish market 2000-2008

Funds under management have increased from DKK 21.6 billion in 2007 to DKK 21.9 billion in 2008. This development illustrates that the market consists of increasingly larger companies. In 1998 the average sum under management per company was DKK 100 million, but today the sum in Danish venture capital companies is close to DKK 500 million.
