NEW INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN BAGSVÆRD
Nov. 24, 2008 | Topic: Society and livingBagsværd Boarding and Grammar School has decided to offer an international education in the English language as from 2010.
The intention is to make it easier for international employees to select Denmark as a country in which to work.
The journal Berlingske Tidende wrote last September that in some cases international employees do not select Denmark due to the lack of international schools.
The analysis “Staying in Denmark – is Denmark a nice place to work?” showed that 37 per cent of the interviewed employees contemplated leaving Denmark and that some of the international employees contemplating moving to the country ruled Denmark out because its international schools have no vacancies for their children.
This is the reason why Bagsværd Boarding and Grammar School will expand so that the school will offer international education as from 2010.
From start to graduate
The school will offer the whole IB-package i.e. children can start from kindergarten to graduation and the school will focus on International Baccalareate Organization’s three school systems – Primary Years Programme for 3-12 year old students, Middle Years Programme for 12-16 years of age and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for 16-19 year of age at grammar school level.
“We consider this a strength and Bagsværd Boarding and Grammar School will be the only school in Denmark with this structure from school start to graduation. Our international department will without doubt strengthen the integration,” says head master Jimmy Burnett Nielsen at Bagsværd Boarding and Grammar School in the school’s press release.
All three educations will be offered in the English, Spanish and French languages.
